St. Croix Heritage Trail The landscape of St. Croix is dotted with the ruins of over 300 sugar, cotton, and cattle plantations that dominated Crucian economic, social and cultural life between 1750 and 1950.  Ranging in size from 75 to 750 acres, they encompassed the entire land mass outside Christiansted and Frederiksted. more
