Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge, at the southwest corner of St. Croix, was established primarily to protect the March-June nesting grounds of endangered leatherback turtles. It also happens to be one of the longest stretches of sandy beaches in the Caribbean - spanning over 2 miles.
