Also called yellow cedar, this small evergreen tree bears the official flower of the U.S. Virgin Islands. It’s profuse, bright yellow blooms are often associated with the territorial bird, the bananaquit. Native to both the West Indies and Central American, the Ginger Thomas is tolerant to sea spray and a dry climate.
